Fashion and passion on ration

Sometimes in golf, your preparation is more important than game day.

And while many of you are probably yelling something profane in my direction, let me plonk down exhibits A and B before I rest my case in the courtroom of Neville Richards Premier League, week two.

The “rooming” Jenny Edmanson (watch the video) and the surgically repaired Kevin Hudson each had planned absences from the Back Paddock Bullies this week.

But instead of letting the grass grow under their collective feet, Jen and Kev got proactive and purchased rental players (with the money raised going to Feed Me Bellarine, of course).

Those “rentals” were Angela “Golden Bear All” Foott and Ian “I chip over bunkers better than my wife” Francis.

Combined, Ange and Ian poured in a lazy 70 points into the Bullies’ coffers and, lo and behold, the reigning champs got up by two points against the desperately unlucky Tornadoes.

Yep, the top two scorers for the Bullies came as a result of a mix of planning and generosity – and they stayed undefeated after two rounds.

Conversely, the reactive Goblins have lurched dangerously towards crisis mode with a second straight shocker, this time compounded by the lack of planning by Ian “Buzz” Burrell, Ryan “Sheikh” Reynolds and Rick “My wife did what??” Edmanson – all no-shows en route to a crushing at the hands of the Sue Gregory-inspired Pirates.

Ahead of the Bullies on percentage remains the Crusaders, with the legend of Peter “Bagman” O’Neill growing weekly with the reigning Drayton medallist again his team’s best performed.

At the other end of the table, both the Hookers and the ailing Goblins have already taken serious hits in the percentage department and need to turn their fortunes around in a hurry.

The Warriors get the Callaway balls as the highest scoring team, courtesy of Josh Bowen and Cam O’Keefe each peeling off 36 points.

The same score was returned by Max Edmanson, Foott and Gregory, but the winner of the Travis Matthew prize was Brian Bell, who played a tremendously consistent round of 14-22 for 36 of his own and an unassailable countback position.
