There were winners and losers aplenty on Saturday as the Neville Richards Premier League home-and-away season wound up.

Needing a win to secure a finals berth, the Chris Dodds-inspired Tornadoes put in a great team effort to advance, ending a wretched few weeks for the hapless Hookers, the winner of the “weak as water” prize for the umpteenth time.

The Bulllies needed to upset the ladder-topping Peakers and have a couple of miracles occur, but appeared to have their hopes alive when Angela “Choco” Royal peeled off a Travis Mathew-winning score of 40 wonderfully crafted points.

But while Dale “Flea” Pollock had the team’s best score, the hero of the day for the Peakers was last man out Cam “Rim” O’Keefe who needed a birdie on the ninth – his final hole – and knocked in a putt to achieve that feat.

It was a tough pill to swallow for the now past champs whose score was the day’s second best, but one solitary point shy of the Peakers who secured the minor premiership alongside the Callaway prize for the day’s best score.

The Pirates finally showed some collective ticker with Richie “Thurston” Howells, the “Tickle-less” Justin McGrath and Dennis “Colling” Wood the mainstays of an upset that threatened to derail the Warriors’ finals aspirations.

With Joel “Milkman” Launer not living up the pre-round hype, the Warriors (245) also went down to the Crusaders (251) in a tight Survivor competition finale.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the girls and boys in green, who limped into the finals when those same Crusaders were no match for the Goblins, who seized the double chance despite the no-show of Toby “Radox” Prime and a self-submitted image for this week’s video that you’ll have to see to believe.

Anyway, it’s on to the finals.

The qualifying final – with the winner to advance straight to the grand final – will feature the Peakers and Goblins.

And the elimination final – with loser out and winner to play the qualifying final loser in the preliminary final – will be fought out between the Tornadoes and Warriors.

Congrats to the Crusaders on their Survivor victory – remarkable for a team outside the finals – and good luck to all finals combatants.
